This recipe is very easy to make. Preparation time would take at least an hour but cooking would only take about 10mins. This is also good for the budget as it does not include too much ingredients. Very good for your kids' and hubby's lunch box.
Ingredients:
beef, cut into 1inch cubes
5 cloves garlic, minced
button mushrooms, sliced to half
button mushrooms, sliced to half
5 tbs. light soy sauce
1 tbs soy sauce
2 tbs seasoning (knorr or maggi -- you can find this in the Filipino Stores and major supermarkets)
2 tbs seasoning (knorr or maggi -- you can find this in the Filipino Stores and major supermarkets)
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1/2 cup all purpose flour
4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp butter
spring onions for garnish
Prepare the marinade using the minced minced garlic, soy sauce, light soy sauce, seasoning, paprika, ground pepper and half of the olive oil. Add the beef and mix well.
Set aside, I would recommend to put in the freezer and marinate for 1 hour at least.
Take out from the refrigerator, remove the beef from the marinade and transfer into a freezer bag then add the flour. Shake it to coat all beef pieces. Set the marinade aside. You will use it later.
Prepare the pan over medium heat, add the remaining olive oil and butter. When hot, adjust the heat to high and add the floured beef. Make sure to spread the beef pieces into a single layer and each piece touches the oil. Don't stir for about 1minute or until the underside of the beef turns brown. You can then cook the other side. You will notice a light crust coating the beef at this stage.
Add the Worcestershire sauce to your marinade and pour into the pan. Stir briskly, then add the mushrooms. Continue stirring to avoid the sauce from sticking into the pan.
This should be cooked within about 5 minutes. Avoid overcooking or the meat will turn out dry.
Turn off the heat and transfer the beef salpicao into a serving platter. Garnish with your spring onion (and toasted garlic if desired) and serve with rice. Enjoy!
