It had always been a running joke in the household that since the other half of the Pascua Family had temporarily relocated to the Philippines in 2008, our little Lauren has never ever been invited to any children's party. It's as if we're both in hibernation until our Dada, Big Ate and Small Ate comes back to Qatar. Life seemed to be put on hold for us. Don't get me wrong, it's not as if we're not enjoying it. We love our Saturdays spent doing some errands, and some leisure activities.
Saturday is our Mei-mei and Me day. We go out leaving the nanny and granny behind. October 9 is a particularly special Saturday for us. It is the little girl's party party day. I even bought her her "pinches dress" as she won't go to the party not wearing one, which by the way is the old party dress of her ate . I can feel her excitement the moment she was dressed. On the way, she was so well behaved in the car patiently waiting until we reached our destination. The party, organized by Doha Groovy Tots was held at the Al Dana Restaurant of the Sharq Village & Spa. The restaurant was located at the back side of the hotel and parking was not adequate. Since it was just me and the little girl, it wasn't exactly an ideal situation. But the party was a blast! Kids of different ages were all dancing to some eighties and ninetees groove. I actually enjoyed just watching the kids strut their stuff dancing with their moms and dads. Oh how I wish my 2 other girls were there with us, I'm sure they would also love it! In the other room, with the buffet set up was a soft play corner for younger kids. We arrived about an hour late and the party was well under way when we arrived. I was a bit disappointed that the buffet spread was already almost finished then but I don't think the little girl was bothered though. At that moment, food is the least of her concerns! She was so fascinated with everything around her that she didn't even remember to ask for her "dede" in the entire time we were there. Fortunately, the buffet table was replenished and I was able to have some lunch, and I guess the smell of food had suddenly reminded Lauren that she hadn't had lunch yet. She had gone back to the buffet table on 3 separate occassions, haha! She liked the spring rolls and chicken nuggets, although I think the nuggets were he supermarket type and maybe even the spring rolls. I mean, considering that it was "The Sharq", I was quite disappointed with the food. I have dined at the hotel a couple of times before and I really think that the food served at the party were not at par with the ones served at the other restaurants of the hotel. But then again, we didn't come for the food!
My Lauren enjoyed it so much that she wanted to be in both places at the same time. She didn't get tired moving from the dance floor in one room and the soft play area in the other. The party finished at around 4, most people had already left then, but I'm still convincing the little girl that it was time to go home. It was clearly her day, and I was simply her chaperone.
